The one everybody calls first
You are the person family and colleagues bring problems to, and you are good at it. The cost shows up later, alone in the car, when you cannot work out why you feel so flat.

Common threads

None of this means something is wrong with you. It means your nervous system has been doing its job for a long time without a break.
The work
We gently work with the experiences your body still carries, at a pace that you can handle.
You're not a list of problems to fix. We build on the resilience that's already gotten you this far.
You'll learn to recognize and settle the anxiety, over-alertness, and shutdown underneath the overthinking.
Together we practice saying no, asking for what you need, and letting other people carry their own feelings.
We name the relational loops you keep landing in, so you can finally choose something different.
Together we identify coping strategies that actually work for you, and find ways to put them to use in your life.
Practical details
Sessions are by secure video, so there is no drive across town and no parking. You need a private hour and a door that closes, a lot of clients use a parked car between shifts.
I'm licensed in Maryland as a LCSW-C, and every session happens by secure video. I don't keep an office in Baltimore or anywhere else. The one rule that matters is location: you need to be physically in Maryland when we meet, because that's where my license lets me practice.
Fees & insurance
I'm in-network with Aetna, Optum, United Healthcare, Oscar, Oxford for Maryland clients, so if you carry one of those plans your sessions may be largely covered. We verify your benefits together before we begin, so you'll know what sessions will cost.
If you would rather not involve insurance, private pay keeps your care entirely between us: no diagnosis on file with an insurer, no third party deciding how long we work together.
About
I'm Ashley, a licensed trauma therapist working by telehealth with clients in Maryland and two other states. I see high-functioning people who are quietly exhausted from holding it all together, warmly and at your pace, building on what's already strong in you.
More about meQuestions
No. What matters legally is the state, not the city: you need to be physically in Maryland at the time of our session. That covers the city, the county, the Towson and Columbia suburbs, the Eastern Shore, anywhere in Maryland.
We meet by secure, HIPAA-compliant video at a scheduled time, just as we would in an office, only you join from wherever you feel most comfortable and private. You get a link, click it at your appointment time, and we talk. Most people find it feels natural within the first few minutes.
Yes. Research consistently finds that virtual therapy is comparable to in-person care for anxiety, depression, and trauma. For many people it is actually easier to open up from their own space, and removing the commute makes it far more sustainable to keep going.
Yes. Sessions are held over secure, HIPAA-compliant video. I ask that you join from a private space where you won't be overheard, and I treat everything we discuss with the same confidentiality as in-person care.
It depends on your state. In Maryland I'm in-network with Aetna, Optum, United Healthcare, Oscar, and Oxford. In Utah I'm in-network with Aetna, Optum, United Healthcare, Oscar, Oxford, and Blue Cross Blue Shield. If you're using insurance we can verify your benefits together, so you'll know what sessions will cost. If you're paying out of pocket, you can check with your insurer before we get started to get an idea of what they'll cover. In Virginia I work on a private-pay basis and can provide a superbill you submit to your insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
My fee is $145 for a 50-minute session, and the first 15-minute consultation is free. If you plan to use out-of-network benefits, I can provide a superbill on request.
