I did my schooling and clinical training in Utah, so the cultural and family expectations that shape life along the Wasatch Front are not something you will have to explain from scratch.

Common threads

What I hear most often

Fine on the outside, hollow underneath

Steady work, good family, the right answers when anyone asks. And a persistent sense of being somewhere just outside your own life.

Expectations from more than one direction

Work, family and community each have a picture of how you should be doing. Meeting all three at once leaves very little of you left over.

A body that keeps the score

Tight jaw, shallow breath, sleep that never restores. Trauma is often physical long before it is a story you can tell.

None of this means something is wrong with you. It means your nervous system has been doing its job for a long time without a break.

The work

How I help clients heal

Trauma-focused therapy

We gently work with the experiences your body still carries, at a pace that you can handle.

A strengths-based approach

You're not a list of problems to fix. We build on the resilience that's already gotten you this far.

Nervous-system regulation

You'll learn to recognize and settle the anxiety, over-alertness, and shutdown underneath the overthinking.

Boundary work

Together we practice saying no, asking for what you need, and letting other people carry their own feelings.

Seeing the pattern

We name the relational loops you keep landing in, so you can finally choose something different.

Tools that work

Together we identify coping strategies that actually work for you, and find ways to put them to use in your life.

Practical details

What working together actually looks like

Sessions are by secure video, so a commute is never part of the hour.

I'm licensed in Utah as a LCSW, and every session happens by secure video. I don't keep an office in Salt Lake City or anywhere else. The one rule that matters is location: you need to be physically in Utah when we meet, because that's where my license lets me practice.

Fees & insurance

What it costs

I'm in-network with Aetna, Optum, United Healthcare, Oscar, Oxford, Blue Cross Blue Shield for Utah clients, so if you carry one of those plans your sessions may be largely covered. We verify your benefits together before we begin, so you'll know what sessions will cost.

  • $145 per 50-minute session.
  • A superbill on request: a detailed receipt you can submit for out-of-network reimbursement.

Prefer to keep insurance out of it? Private pay means your care stays between us, with no diagnosis required for a third party. Out-of-network benefits may still apply, and I can provide a superbill on request.

About

Who you'd be working with

I'm Ashley, a licensed trauma therapist working by telehealth with clients in Utah and two other states. I see high-functioning people who are quietly exhausted from holding it all together, warmly and at your pace, building on what's already strong in you.

Questions

Your questions answered

Can I see you if I live outside Salt Lake City?

Yes. You need to be physically in Utah during our session, Salt Lake, Davis County, Utah County, St. George, anywhere in the state. By video the distance makes no difference.

How does online therapy work?

We meet by secure, HIPAA-compliant video at a scheduled time, just as we would in an office, only you join from wherever you feel most comfortable and private. You get a link, click it at your appointment time, and we talk. Most people find it feels natural within the first few minutes.

Is telehealth therapy actually effective?

Yes. Research consistently finds that virtual therapy is comparable to in-person care for anxiety, depression, and trauma. For many people it is actually easier to open up from their own space, and removing the commute makes it far more sustainable to keep going.

Is virtual therapy secure and private?

Yes. Sessions are held over secure, HIPAA-compliant video. I ask that you join from a private space where you won't be overheard, and I treat everything we discuss with the same confidentiality as in-person care.

Do you take insurance?

It depends on your state. In Maryland I'm in-network with Aetna, Optum, United Healthcare, Oscar, and Oxford. In Utah I'm in-network with Aetna, Optum, United Healthcare, Oscar, Oxford, and Blue Cross Blue Shield. If you're using insurance we can verify your benefits together, so you'll know what sessions will cost. If you're paying out of pocket, you can check with your insurer before we get started to get an idea of what they'll cover. In Virginia I work on a private-pay basis and can provide a superbill you submit to your insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement.

What are your rates?

My fee is $145 for a 50-minute session, and the first 15-minute consultation is free. If you plan to use out-of-network benefits, I can provide a superbill on request.
