Common threads

What I hear most often

Composed all day, flattened by evening

You hold it together through meetings and the commute, and whatever is left gets spent on the people you most wanted to be patient with.

Achievement that stopped feeling like anything

The promotion arrived, the title is impressive, and the relief you expected lasted about a week. That gap is worth looking at.

Vigilance you cannot switch off

A workplace where mistakes carry weight teaches you to scan constantly. It is an excellent professional skill and an exhausting way to live.

None of this means something is wrong with you. It means your nervous system has been doing its job for a long time without a break.

The work

How I help clients heal

Trauma-focused therapy

We gently work with the experiences your body still carries, at a pace that you can handle.

A strengths-based approach

You're not a list of problems to fix. We build on the resilience that's already gotten you this far.

Nervous-system regulation

You'll learn to recognize and settle the anxiety, over-alertness, and shutdown underneath the overthinking.

Boundary work

Together we practice saying no, asking for what you need, and letting other people carry their own feelings.

Seeing the pattern

We name the relational loops you keep landing in, so you can finally choose something different.

Tools that work

Together we identify coping strategies that actually work for you, and find ways to put them to use in your life.

Practical details

What working together actually looks like

Video sessions mean the Beltway is not part of your therapy. You keep the hour and skip the drive, which for this area is often the difference between going and not going.

I'm licensed in Maryland as a LCSW-C, and every session happens by secure video. I don't keep an office in Silver Spring or anywhere else. The one rule that matters is location: you need to be physically in Maryland when we meet, because that's where my license lets me practice.

Fees & insurance

What it costs

I'm in-network with Aetna, Optum, United Healthcare, Oscar, Oxford for Maryland clients, so if you carry one of those plans your sessions may be largely covered. We verify your benefits together before we begin, so you'll know what sessions will cost.

  • $145 per 50-minute session.
  • A superbill on request: a detailed receipt you can submit for out-of-network reimbursement.

If you would rather not involve insurance, private pay keeps your care entirely between us: no diagnosis on file with an insurer, no third party deciding how long we work together.

About

Who you'd be working with

I'm Ashley, a licensed trauma therapist working by telehealth with clients in Maryland and two other states. I see high-functioning people who are quietly exhausted from holding it all together, warmly and at your pace, building on what's already strong in you.

Questions

Your questions answered

I work in DC but live in Maryland. Does that work?

Yes, as long as you are physically in Maryland during the session. Where you work does not matter; your location at the time we meet does. If you would be sitting at a desk in the District during our hour, we would need to schedule around that.

How does online therapy work?

We meet by secure, HIPAA-compliant video at a scheduled time, just as we would in an office, only you join from wherever you feel most comfortable and private. You get a link, click it at your appointment time, and we talk. Most people find it feels natural within the first few minutes.

Is telehealth therapy actually effective?

Yes. Research consistently finds that virtual therapy is comparable to in-person care for anxiety, depression, and trauma. For many people it is actually easier to open up from their own space, and removing the commute makes it far more sustainable to keep going.

Is virtual therapy secure and private?

Yes. Sessions are held over secure, HIPAA-compliant video. I ask that you join from a private space where you won't be overheard, and I treat everything we discuss with the same confidentiality as in-person care.

Do you take insurance?

It depends on your state. In Maryland I'm in-network with Aetna, Optum, United Healthcare, Oscar, and Oxford. In Utah I'm in-network with Aetna, Optum, United Healthcare, Oscar, Oxford, and Blue Cross Blue Shield. If you're using insurance we can verify your benefits together, so you'll know what sessions will cost. If you're paying out of pocket, you can check with your insurer before we get started to get an idea of what they'll cover. In Virginia I work on a private-pay basis and can provide a superbill you submit to your insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement.

What are your rates?

My fee is $145 for a 50-minute session, and the first 15-minute consultation is free. If you plan to use out-of-network benefits, I can provide a superbill on request.
